Sponsor a Scholarship Child

It has always been important for us that a Blue School education should be available to as many people in Lüderitz as possible. Therefore 15% of our total enrollments are offered as fully funded scholarship places - so as our total numbers grow, so do the number of scholarships available. These scholarships are available to any child in Lüderitz who is passionate about learning and well-suited to our curriculum.

Funding the Benguela Robotics Lab

The Luderitz Blue School hosts the Benguela Robotics Lab - teaching young people the skills necessary to make and develop robots through understanding design and technology, coding and sensors and lots of imagination. Students begin with Junior Robotics where they learn to use Lego Spike - a system designed to teach the basics of robotics construction and programming through the medium of lego. They then graduate on to Senior Robotics and then Coding Club where they hone their skills in using sensors, microbits and coding languages to build their own robots. The senior clubs are open to students of all schools in Luderitz to join

Cost: N$200,000 / EUR 10,000 for equipment and staffing.

N$50,000 / EUR 2,500 for equipment alone.

All things Ocean - Oceans Day, Sailing Club and Coastal Rowing

Every Friday is Oceans Day - our students get involved with a range of activities and excursions all related to the unique environment of Luderitz. A typical term might include a beach clean up, a visit to a local business, a chance to get to know the work of the marine monitoring team at Kelp Blue, a visit to the Maritime museum and a day bodyboarding in the waves.

With the help of some visiting interns, in 2024 we started the Sailing Club and now our oldest more experienced sailors are training up our newest recruits. Every weekend the sailing club is out on the lagoon or beyond the waves at Agate Beach or Grosse Bucht if the wind conditions are right. Sailing is an incredible sport for learning resilience, preparedness, independence and for the thrill of the open water.

The Namibia Canoeing and Rowing Federation (NCRF) are actively looking to develop skills in Lüderitz and have already donated two coastal rowing boats. They are scouting young Namibians to send to Senegal for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. We will be opening these opportunities to any young people in Luderitz who think they have what it takes to succeed.

Annual costs of running ocean-related extracurricular activities - N$50,000 / EUR 2,500

Sponsoring Luderitz Sailing and Rowing Club - upkeep and maintenance of equipment, maintenance of facility, fuel for rescue boat - N$50,000 / EUR 2,500

Sponsoring Training of Lüderitz Rowers - bring in expert volunteers to coach and train young people towards success in Dakar - $75,000 / EUR 3,750

Cambridge International Exam Centre

Cambridge International is the gold standard in education and qualifications - they offer a world-class curriculum and qualifications that are recognised all over the world. The Lüderitz Blue School is currently accredited by Cambridge for Primary and Junior Secondary. From 2026 our students will start their preparation for their IGCSEs and we want to register the school for Senior Secondary to access the curriculum, teaching plans and to be able to host exams. This would mean that students would be able to sit their exams in Lüderitz rather than having to travel to Windhoek or Swakopmund to write the papers. It is, however, a very expensive undertaking.

Annual Subscription to be a Cambridge Exam Centre - N$175,000 / EUR 8,600

IGCSE Exam fees per child (to sponsor a student’s exam fees) - N$25,000 / EUR 1,250
