Boarding at the Luderitz Blue School
Our Boarding House - the Blue House - is a home away from home

About Boarding
Boarding at Luderitz Blue School is very special. Here, boarders are supported and guided by our dedicated team of staff so that they can develop their fullest potential along whatever pathway life leads them. We welcome boarders from Year 3 and upwards and can accommodate boarders from anywhere in the world to join us in the exciting opportunities we have to offer.
Facilities
The Blue House is our current, well-provisioned boarding house with three large and well-appointed dormitories (dorms). It is situated a short walk from the main school building and also houses core boarding staff who support our boarders 24hrs a day.
Due to increasing pupil numbers, as of 2026 we will be expanding our boarding provision into a beautiful, fully refurbished building, the Moon House. This will be a dedicated space for the older boarders and has plenty of space to include social spaces, quiet work spaces, games rooms, function rooms and boasts the most stunning view in town.

Pastoral
We pride ourselves on notably high teacher:pupil ratios, allowing our boarders to build a rapport with many staff members and always have someone available who they can talk to or share problems with. The staff are also involved in a typical school day and are able to keep abreast with tutors and teachers about how the boarders are during school times as well.
Typical Day
The boarders’ typical day starts from ‘wake up’ at 06:45 before a healthy breakfast and leaving for school. After a busy day in school, from approximately 15:00 or 16:00 (depending on age group) boarders return to the boarding house, take time to relax and unwind after a busy day, or play outside. After an evening meal, there is time for boarders to contact home, finish off any homework or enjoy some reading before ‘lights out’ at 21:15. This schedule is flexible on weekends and is arranged around the exciting variety of activities that are taking place.
Weekends
The weekend-based activities and other extra-curricular opportunities at Luderitz Blue School are a significant highlight and our boarders have full access to the rich programme of events that take place. This could include special nights in the house and refreshing beach walks or sailing, to overnight and extended off-site excursions in the breathtaking environment that Namibia has to offer. A point to note is that our boarders often play a key part in helping to organise and deliver these events, whether this be planning the menu and catering for the group or sharing ideas on what they may wish to do for the next adventure. These opportunities help to embellish their educational experience and offer learning prospects beyond those found in classrooms.
Getting Here
Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek is the closest international airport to us in Namibia. From there, a spectacular drive will bring you all the way to Luderitz. Alternatively, there are internal flights that can take you to the Luderitz Airport. By arrangement, boarders can be collected and returned from specific locations within Namibia at the beginning and end of term times, making boarding accessible and easy to join.
