Wavemaker Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to only one student per academic year. They must show a dedication to ocean stewardship and will complete a project that actively contributes to ocean protection, either through awareness, action, or innovation.
Examples of contributions:

Designing and running a school-wide plastic reduction campaign
-
Creating an educational display or short documentary to be shown in Assembly
-
Organising a community beach clean-up and documenting its impact
-
Building a prototype invention or solution to a marine problem (e.g., a simple filter for microplastics, art made from ocean waste)
-
Starting a school ocean club or initiative that continues beyond the project term

Application Procedure: In addition to the school’s normal scholarship process, the student should submit a short 500-word essay with the title ‘What the ocean means to me’.
Performing Arts Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship must demonstrate a keen interest in the performing arts. They should already be undertaking lessons or learning to play an instrument (including voice) or in dance. They should demonstrate a natural ability in drama if this is their chosen area of focus.
Examples of contributions to school life:

Performing at school events/ assemblies
-
Assisting in the directing/ writing and performance of school productions (primary and secondary)

Sharing their skills through teaching/ coaching of younger peers.
Application Procedure: In addition to the school’s normal scholarship process, the student should submit a video of them playing their instrument, dancing or performing a short monologue.
STEM Scholarship
Recipients of this scholarship must demonstrate a keen interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM subjects)
Examples of contributions to school life:

Assisting with robotics club/ other school STEM initiatives.

Assisting with the set up/ organisation of the school’s own science fair.

Undertaking of STEM subjects beyond Grade 10/11.

Application Procedure: In addition to the school’s normal scholarship process, the student should submit a short 500-word essay titled ‘Why STEM matters’.
Sports Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship must demonstrate a keen interest in sport. They should already have a sport they specialise in, playing for local teams or undertaking additional training outside of school. They may have competed in local, regional or national competitions. Ideal candidates would have an interest in water sports: sailing, rowing, canoeing etc.
Examples of contributions to school life:

Representing the school in competitions

Assisting in sports coaching of younger students

Supporting the school sports coach in organising extracurricular activities and events
Application Procedure: In addition to the school’s normal scholarship process, the student should submit a video of them playing their chosen sport, evidence of any successes in competitions and/or a short 500-word essay titled ‘What sport means to me’.
