Key Stage 2 - Years 3-6
Key Stage 2 (KS2) at Luderitz Blue School is split into three classes: The Penguin Class (Year 3), The Turtle Class (Year 4), and the Octopus Class (mixed Years 5 and 6). In these year groups, our pupils deepen their understanding of the world and begin to take real ownership of their learning.

Our small class sizes allow for a nurturing environment where each child is known, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We celebrate individual strengths and provide opportunities for children to nurture their curiosity, work collaboratively, and develop key life skills such as resilience, creativity and critical thinking.
Our curriculum follows the Cambridge International Curriculum, with a strong focus placed on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, which are taught in dynamic and engaging ways. We are also very proud of our coastal setting and our identity as a Blue School, so ocean and environmental themes are woven through everything that we do, helping our students to not only develop their academic skills but also a deep respect for the natural world around us.
In addition to the core subjects, the KS2 timetables also include lessons in:
-
Marine & Maritime Studies – weekly sessions that build scientific knowledge through hands-on, ocean-focused learning
-
Humanities – exploring history and geography through thematic, cross-curricular projects
-
Religious Education (RE) – encouraging reflection, empathy, and understanding of different worldviews
-
Computing – developing digital literacy, problem-solving and responsible online behaviour
